This policy explains how this application handles information and how to contact us about privacy.
Information we process
Omit TV Shows stores the viewing entries you create, including titles, channels, actors or hosts, dates, viewing status, stop points, notes, scene text and attached photos. The app stores these records and image files on your iPhone. It stores a randomly generated installation secret in the device Keychain. When cloud sync is enabled, the app sends the journal and attached photos to its private backend, which stores the records and image bytes in PostgreSQL under a hash of that secret. Railway, the hosting provider, receives connection information such as IP addresses and request metadata needed to serve the API and may keep infrastructure logs. The app has no accounts, advertising identifiers or analytics SDK.
How we use information
The app uses your journal data to display and search your personal viewing history, save edits offline, show attached photos, and provide an optional private cloud copy. The installation secret authorizes only that installation's backend requests. The service uses request information to operate and protect the service.
Service providers and sharing
Cloud data is processed by Railway as the backend and PostgreSQL hosting provider. Request metadata may appear in Railway infrastructure logs. The app uses Apple's system photo picker and camera when you choose them; those choices do not send photos to any separate photo service. There are no advertising, analytics, email-delivery or social-login providers. We do not publish journal entries or photos or provide public photo URLs.
Data retention
Local journal records and attached photos remain on the device until you delete them or remove the app. The Keychain installation secret may remain on the same device after app removal, subject to iOS behavior; reinstall recovery cannot be promised if the secret is lost. When sync is enabled, records and photos remain in PostgreSQL until you delete the relevant data. Turning sync off stops new uploads and downloads but does not erase an existing cloud copy; deletion requests are still sent. Railway or its infrastructure may retain backups and logs under its own operational policies; we do not claim a fixed duration or immediate removal from those systems.
Deleting your information
Deleting an entry removes its local entry, scenes and photos, and the app requests deletion of that installation's server copy when it can connect. Deleting all data clears the local journal and attached photos immediately and requests deletion of the installation's entries, scenes and photos on the server, including when sync is otherwise off. If the device is offline, the deletion request is queued locally until it can connect. Removing the app before a queued request is sent can leave a cloud copy; contact the privacy address below while you still possess the installation secret if you need help with that copy. Provider backups and logs may persist under the provider's policies.
Permissions and your choices
You can choose a photo through Apple's photo picker without granting broad library access. Camera access is requested only when you choose to take a photo. You can decline or later withdraw camera access in iOS Settings; journal text and existing photos remain usable. Cloud sync can be turned off in the app's Settings.
Your privacy rights
You can view, edit, search and delete your entries within the app, turn off sync, and delete all data in Settings. Because there is no account, access to a cloud copy depends on the installation secret kept on your device; we cannot promise recovery after it is lost. Security
The app uses HTTPS for backend requests and stores the installation secret in the iOS Keychain. The backend requires that secret on private requests, stores only its SHA-256 hash as an owner namespace, and restricts entries and photos to that namespace. Photos are stored privately in PostgreSQL rather than a public file directory. Anyone who obtains the secret could access that installation's cloud data, so device and secret security matter.
Children’s privacy
Omit TV Shows is intended for adults keeping a personal television journal and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly design it to collect children's information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app's data practices change. The current version and effective date will be shown on this public page. Material changes to data handling will be reflected in the app and policy before the changed behavior is released.
